This country living is 
okay.
Hubby and I started a garden this year. Pretty good-sized, but the only thing it’s producing now is radishes. It seems we planted rather a lot. So, Hubby takes a sandwich baggie full of freshly trimmed radishes to one neighbor, comes home with two skewers of grilled shrimp fresh off the barbie. He takes another baggie to another neighbor. Returns with a dozen fresh eggs.
I’m thinkin’ we’re getting the better end of this deal.
Seems fitting on this Sunday afternoon, that I’m reminded of a bible verse:
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together
and running over, will be poured into your lap. Luke 6:38, NIV (©1984)
It seems the promise still holds true today.

Lovely post, Carol. We’ve had a boat load of radishes before. I think they were the only things the darn deer and rabbits wouldn’t eat…grin…
We’ve helped some friends move recently. They have a garden and we’ve been gifted with a LOT of squash. We aren’t big squash eaters, but it is nice that they think of us.
The biggest thing I can think of is sharing a smile with my coworkers. I try to smile and say hi to everyone I meet. I don’t care if I know them or not, if they are grumpy or chatty. I smile and say hi to everyone. The payoff for that has been people recognizing me in meetings and asking my opinion on things. Being new in my job series, I expected to be a wallflower for a while as I learned the ropes. Instead, I’ve found that being pulled into the thick of everything has taught me far more than some of the people I came into the training program with. Although I never set out to gain an advantage by being nice to everyone, it has paid off in far more ways than I can even imagine.
I love the verse. Going to make a note of that one.

Fresh eggs and bbq’ed shrimp trump veggies, even fresh from the garden. Is that your garden?

I do know that I’ve been on the receiving end of much Twitter love, new Blog followers, and ‘Likes’ and conversation on my Facebook pages. One of whom is Ms.Brothers up there, who manages to smile even through the internet. Hey Tami!

Yep, that’s my garden – about a week ago. We’ve got baby acorn squash and a few tomatoes coming on now. Can’t wait for those tomatoes.

Our “garden” was small with basically only tomatoes…that the squirrels and birds ate. Sigh. We do have hibiscus 🙂
Life is what you make of it. Giving brings many rewards. I try to give a little of myself, but I can also be very selfish with my time. I’m working on that.
