>Overwhelmed

I’m supposed to be participating in a writing challenge that my local chapter has going this month. I mean, I AM writing (albeit at a snail’s pace – ahem) but it seems life, the calendar and I may have sabotaged…me!

Life – Seems there’s a lot going on this month:
Taxes (‘nuf said?)
A lovely tea at my writing friend, Susan’s. How we managed to turn it into an all-day affair, I don’t know, but get 5 writers together…
An anniversary (27th) trip with my DH in the middle of the month.
A GRW meetings and a committee meeting
Babysitting for my neighbor here and there along the way. (Hey, this writing thing isn’t lucrative yet – I gotta make some dough where I can!) Two kids, ages 1 & 3. Uh-huh. Won’t be much writing going on during that.
Oh – and there’s also the pesky regular life/house chores that never go away.

Then there’s the calendar which tells me it’s SPRING, as if I couldn’t see it blooming all around me. But that makes me want to do some Spring cleaning. Specifically, my office, which looks like a freakin’ tornado came through and deposited debris. Yes, I know, it’ll never be perfectly neat because it’s also the laundry room. But take my word for it. It’s B-A-D. (Picture me cringing here.) Only if I stop everything else to clean that room, I’ll for sure never make my page count for the month and will be in danger of messing up my annual goals. Gotta stay on target, even if it is driving me crazy. What’s that you say? How could it possibly take that long? I TOLD you. It’s a disaster!

That leaves writing, which is what I’m supposed to be doing, right? Oh! (smacks forehead) Did I forget to mention that I’m taking an online course? Oh, yeah. I am. And natch, it has to be the mother of all courses. Empowering Characters Emotions by Margie Lawson. It’s a great course, I’m learning a lot, but we’re only 1 week in and already I’m behind. Maybe it was the Welcome and 3 lectures to read through (about 100 pgs of info and examples) with a total of with 7 homework assignments. Or it could have been the 21 e-mail DIGESTS that it spawned. No, I’m not exaggerating. I counted them – 21 in one week! This course lasts most of the month.

I think ‘overwhelmed’ pretty much nails my mood.

How about you? How’s life/Spring/the weather/your writing life treating YOU?

    >Hey Carol.I know how you feel. Life sure gets in the way sometimes. I happen to be in the exact same boat. I wonder who’s brilliant idea it was for that writing challenge… ((grin) I’ll blame it on Pam – think she’ll take the blame for me?)Anyways, don’t sweat the small stuff. We’ll get there. One page at a time. And I’m guessing blog pages should count. Right? You should talk to the person running that writer’s challenge. I’m sure she’d be willing to count that along with a few of the things she’s been stuck on this week as well… Keep up the good work!Tammy H

    >OMG, you’re right! Blog pages DO count. At least we counted them last year, along with editing (count as 1/2 pgs) articles and essays. Gotta go update my spreadsheet. *G*

    >Well, as you can tell by the late date of response – life is getting the better of me! Too much yard! Way too much yard! But how do you downsize a yard? LOL Writing is on the back burner for a bit I’m afraid. But I do so love spring!
