“Cockalier” pup steals my heart

Pic of pup at 5 weeksFemale Cockalier pup at just five weeks. Cockaliers are what some refer to as a “designer breed”, cross breeding two registered breeds. There’s some controversy concerning the practice of cross-breeding, but the upside is that the process can actually make for a healthier dog. In this case, an Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is crossed with a Cocker Spaniel.

We visited this little girl’s home kennel Sunday, met her mom and dad and siblings, and fell in love. Isn’t she adorable?

We found her through puppyfind.com and Karen at Tip Of The Ozarks Puppies. Karen tells us this little girl should top out around 14-19 pounds.

While she can’t replace Beau in our hearts, she will certainly keep me company while Hubby and the big dogs are off hunting. Downside: I have to wait another three weeks before she can leave her mom. Upside: She’s only an hour away. I can go visit.
