What’s in your TBR (to be read) pile? Too many books to count? I’m sure there are many writers out there whose piles are gargantuan compared to mine, but I only have mine to reference and it’s big enough. I find myself buying books I’d like to read only to let them sit while I read more category books for research on lines I’d like to write for. Do you do this as well? Not necessarily read category, but read in your sub-genre of interest? I’m not saying I put pleasure reading aside to read 4-5 books in a series. It’s more like 10-15 in a series or line of books. It seems to be the only way I can really get a handle on the line requirements.

Friday was a good writing day. I wrote a mini story–hoping it will fit in a TRUE magazine. I got a contract earlier in the week for a Loving Pet piece on Murphy. Hey, don’t laugh. That’s $50 writing income to show on next year’s taxes. I’m hoping it’ll be the first in a long line of checks from my writing.

Also on Friday, I think I finally got what the Desire editors are looking for–which made Saturday a good writing day, too. I brainstormed a totally new WIP. I have the external situation which drives the action, strong conflict, and the three P’s: Passionate, Powerful, Provocative. Plus, I think it’s got nice hooks, too. Now to write it and remember to keep my Alpha strong throughout!

Isn’t it funny how you can kind of plod along, almost forgetting why you started writing in the first place, then all of a sudden, you’re feeling the magic again? Gotta love it.
