#SnippetSunday: His Small Town Princess, Part 3

CarolBurnside_HisSmallTownPrincess800Welcome to Snippet Sunday again, where writers share 8 to 10 sentences from a current WIP (work in progress) or past work.

My sentences are a 3rd installment from His Small Town Princess, a work in progress and the 3rd novel in my Sweetwater Springs series. These books are sensual contemporary romance full of Southern, small town USA charm and are both humorous and emotional.

In this scene for #SnippetSunday, J.T and Cass were doing some heavy flirting when her phone signaled an incoming text. To read the previous installments, they are #1: HERE and #2: HERE.

J.T. and Cass in the greenhouse/plant nursery one morning:

J.T. flinched and took a step toward her phone where it lay beside her gloves and trowel. “Aren’t you going to get that?”

“I’d rather finish this conversation.”

He looked at her phone as it dinged again. “Says you have a message from Randy. Sure you don’t want to get it?”

Ohmigod, today was Friday. She’d completely forgotten about the plans she’d made with her ex-boss. Shock must have registered on her face, because J.T.’s eyes narrowed before he picked up her phone and touched the screen.

His gaze lifted to hers, as if asking permission to intrude on her privacy.

A Small Town Princess will be released later this year. However, the first two books in the series are available in e-book and print. Click HERE for info, excerpts, reviews and buy links.

Sounds like it might be a little late to ask permission… And seems he might be a touch jealous? Or maybe just suspicious of her?

  2. Oups! Sometimes it’s better not to ignore the phone. I wonder what J. T. is going to find there.

It’s interesting to me that she was willing to ignore the phone call but he wasn’t, though it was her call. Intriguing.
