My Sweetwater Springs series books are southern US, small-town, sensual romance books. Here’s a small excerpt from Second Chances (Sweetwater Springs series, book #4). To set the stage…Jake and Dixie have just had their first kiss, but it was heating up when they were interrupted in his office my his law partner. This is after they’re alone again.

Jake couldn’t decipher the look in Dixie’s eyes, but they were soft and…“You’re worried.”

“Shouldn’t I be? I’m beginning to have feelings for a man I know very little about except he cares about this town, loves his kids, and kisses like there’s no tomorrow. Those are definite plusses.” She tightened her fingers on his arms. “And that makes me want things I haven’t let myself think about in far too long.”

“You think I don’t have concerns, too? I know this is a complicated situation, but I also believe we’re two reasonably intelligent people who can figure out a way to be together. Do I hear you correctly, that you’d like a plan for that?”

She sighed and rested her forehead on his chest.

He breathed in the feminine scent of her. Her nearness made him wish to see her dark hair fanned out across a pillow, her shoulders bare above the sheet.

“I do think a plan would be good, but I also need time. I can’t think when I’m this close to you.”

“I like the sound of that. Stop thinking for a few moments and just let yourself feel again.” He lifted her chin with a thumb under it until her gaze met his again. “Okay?”

She ran her knuckles down his jaw, a soft caress that encouraged him to close the short distance to her lips. He held his yearning in check and kept the kiss soft and sweet.

It was Dixie who changed that with a light flick of her tongue as she crossed her wrists behind his nape. The movement brought her forward, her breasts brushing his chest.

Jake took her invitation and opened for her, deepening the kiss, pressing her against him until they were chest to thigh. Heat was tightening his lower body when her cell began to ding, ding, ding. “Oh, you gotta be kidding me! What is that?”

“My alarm. When I think I need a reminder for an upcoming appointment, I set it and today that means I need to go now, or I’ll be late for a showing.”

“But—”

She kissed him, fast and hard, then whirled to grab up her phone and bag.  “Put your thinking cap on, Jake, and I’ll do the same. Call me tomorrow.”

She was out the door before he could reply.

“Sure. Just kiss and run,” he said to the empty office. It would be impossible to do anything but think about her now.
