>I promised you pix of Savannah and here they are:

This is one of the beautiful squares found throughout the city, which gives Savannah a good part of its charm. They’re so serene, you just want to sit a spell. Guess that’s why they have benches scattered around. 🙂

I don’t know that this church is historical or anything, but I thought it made a beautiful picture with the trees and spanish moss in the foreground.

Oh, yes. The spanish moss laden crepe myrtle was in an old cemetary that had this plaque at the entrance.

A couple of times I went out and forgot my camera. I know, I KNOW! But strange things strike my fancy as things appropriate for picture-taking.

Like the Yellow Fever Epidemic sign in the cemetary and this sidewalk. Probably a replica, since we were allowed to walk on it, but cool in it’s composition of locally available ingredients. Can you tell there’s sea shells in there?

See? It’s doubtful you missed anything of import.

Sometime in the near future, I’ll post pics I took last night while at the Walking With Dinosaurs show at Phillips Arena.

Speaking of unusual historicals, Perfidia takes place in 1939 Berlin. How’s that for unusual? It’s written by a friend of mine, Morag McKendrick Pippin (w/a Elspeth McKendrick). Did I mention they’re giving away free books?
I’m lovin’ that cover. And that one line…”Trust no one.” Kinda gives me chills. Oh, and in case you missed it – they’re giving away free books. *ggg*

>Tues Tidbits: Weird art

>Have I mentioned my preference for unusual or odd bits of news? Today I ran across an artist in Yahoo’s People On The Web. The article was titled “Strokes of Genius” and I have to agree with that assessment after checking out a few of the videos and artwork of Phil Hansen. It’s amazing the things this very average-looking guy has done. He seems very nonchalant about it, as if he’s just having fun.

Example? How about a wall-sized portrait of a serial killer, made up entirely of his victims portraits? A large portrait of the madonna, made up of pb&j? Or how about a portrait of Bruce Lee, made from karate chops of black paint?

And the real genius about the whole thing is he often videotapes himself creating the art, so we can see just how he went about it.
