Update

Much better day today.  Amazing what a full night’s sleep will do for you.  Headache gone and I’m slowly, but surely making progress on Return to Paradise.  Most of what I’m working on is totally new scenes.  A lot is hitting the floor, but I think what’s taking shape is a better book.

I’ve tried to do the fast draft thing – even on a chapter and it just doesn’t seem to work for me.  I’m still going to try it on the next WIP, but for now, drafting, layering and editing in one fell swoop seems to be my M.O.  Guess that’s why I write slower than some.

DH will be off bird hunting for the next couple weeks, so I’ll be able to devote as much time as my brain can stand on finishing the WIP.

Got my SASP back yesterday from Silhouette in Canada.  Wanda received the partial on Oct. 24.  Whew!  It’s really kind of scary to think about everything that’s riding on those 3 chapters. Wish me luck, will ya?

Oh, yeah, almost forgot – 5 pgs today and counting.  No weekends off right now.  Back to writing…

Fuzzy-headed

Fuzzy-headed is how I feel today.  I’m one of those occasional migraine sufferers and one is trying it’s best to latch onto me.  I kept it at bay pretty well yesterday with meds, but it’s still nagging in the background today, making it hard to concentrate.

I shall get pages done today and will probably have the exploding head to prove it.  But first, a warm shower.  Then a change of pace – writing longhand in a comfy chair with my favorite throw over me.  Thank God it’s quiet at my house.

Anyone else out there get migraines? How do you cope? Does a change of pace/scene help or are you totally down for the count in a dark, quiet room?

Passionate Ink

>I’m proud to be a charter member of Passionate Ink (PI), the Erotic Romance Writers Special Interest Chapter #207 of Romance Writers Of America.
Since the new chapter was only approved slightly before Nationals, I’ve been amazed at the things Sylvia Day (Pres.) and the founders (including names like Shelley Bradley, Jaci Burton, & Angela Knight–see complete list here) have been able to accomplish in just a few months and still handle their own writing careers.
Already PI has established a beautiful website which has a member page with links to their websites, as well as a link to their forum. PI is publishing a quarterly newsletter and a monthly Booknotes newsletter announcing all the latest releases for it’s members.
In addition, it has established contests for both published (Passionate Plume) and unpublished (Stroke of Midnight) and has announced them on contest loops and the RWR.
Workshops are being taught, research and industry information is disseminated, and milestones in the writers life are being shared and rejoiced over.
In short, it’s a professionally run organization with something in the neighborhood of 200 members, last I heard.
And what do I do? I collect all the Member Milestones and report them in the newsletter so we can all celebrate.
Do your characters heat up the page?
