Like a dog with a bone

That’s me. Dog with bone–chewing away at revising this manuscript. At this point I’m writing more new stuff than I am revising draft and it’s slow going. There’s still parts of the original I’ll use, but not a lot.

I’ve discovered that if I just keep pushing each day, immersing myself in the characters, my notes and reading the synopsis, the overall story becomes clearer. Hopefully, I write the scenes with more purpose and it’s not as dry and blah as it seems as it appears on the screen. At least the characters are still talking to me and their story is still burning to be told. If only life didn’t keep interrupting my writing time.

But I must return to it now. I’m determined to have a polished 2nd full draft of this manuscript finished before Nov. 15. Oh, crap, that’s not much time.

So tell me, how’s your writing/work/latest project going?

From demo to finished!

I’ve been mentioning along the way the renovation project DH & I have been doing on his old home place in Arkansas. It’s finally finished. While the walls may look white, they actually have a tinge of color and it’s called Swiss Coffee.

Here’s the bathroom before and after. That’s not an optical illusion in the before. The bathtub was really sinking through the floor. And in the after pic? Again not an optical illusion. The shower rod is curved out to allow more bathing room. DH did all the tile work here and in the kitchen.

And here’s the kitchen before:

and after:

And here’s the Pepto Bismol room w/ indoor-outdoor carpet and no closet doors. Lovely, eh?

Here it is after, with Berber and bi-fold closet doors. Yes, yours truly personally painted every wall, closet, door and trim board in the entire house, thank you very much!

Even the back porch was transformed with fresh paint, a new ceiling, light fixture and new steps.

We’re both glad this project is finished! Now it’s a sweet little country home awaiting it’s new owners with a few acres in back.

Now to finish doing the same thing to my manuscript, although I don’t think it could possibly be as U-gly as this house was to start with.

Wish me luck!

Help fight Breast Cancer

A favor to ask, it only takes a minute….

Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on “donating a mammogram” for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn’t cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here’s the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Thanks for helping fund free mammograms!

I just got back from Arkansas. I have more pictures and will get caught up here and with e-mails, in a few days. Honest.
