Happy 2005, everyone

The new year is here. It’s 3 hours into 2005 and I’m still awake – but not for long. I managed to finish up my TRG entry and query letter today. Tomorrow I’ll print out and get ready to mail.

Peace and quiet, people! Intense concentration needed here for the muse to strike again.

BTW, anyone out there have a good list of sex terms and phrases? If not, I’m beginning one, should you need it for reference. LOL Every romance writer should have one I’ve decided. After all, those love scenes need variety.

Another contest

What the hell. I’ve already sent Forever Kind of Guy in to the Great Expectations contest. May as well send The Reluctant Groom, too (especially since they extended the deadline to 1/4). I entered it last year, and would just like to see if I’ve improved it any with the edits. The entry is now with my CP’s. Then I’ll polish once more.

Just in case any writers ever read this: the NTRWA’s GE contest is great for feedback. They encourage the judges to write comments on the MS itself, or on the score sheets. There’s separate categories and they are broken down into specific things for the judge to look for and score. It helped me tremendously last year.

Better go work on the query letter that goes with the entry. They also critique it. 🙂

I woke up at the buttcrack of dawn this morning. Couldn’t sleep, so I got up and made myself a lovely spreadsheet to plot out my next book. Then I blew up the individual chapter pages so I could fill them in, scene after scene. Hope this works for me. I need some kind of system. What I’ve been doing isn’t working.

Where does the time go?

Can’t believe Christmas has come and gone. It’s almost a new year, and I’m not in the mood to set goals. I made some last year, but can’t find them. I think they got gobbled up by the computer that died.

I know I wanted to write 2-3 books and ended up with 1 and some short stories. But I did have a major move and have sold 2 short stories, so I guess that’s not so bad.

Will have to think on this a bit more. If I come up with anything, I’ll post it here – and we’ll see this time next year how I’ve done.

Congratulations goes out to my good friend, Linda Winfree, but she’s keeping things hush-hush, so you’ll have to ask her what for.
