Out With The Old

Well, the old year is going out quietly and on a rather nice note.  I was blog-hopping a bit and discovered I’ve won a copy of Alison Kent’s Larger Than Life.  Too cool!  Just a few days ago, I clicked on the cover art she has posted and read the excerpts.  It sounds wonderful.

To anyone out there reading this – Happy New Year.  May the coming 365 days be filled with much love and happiness, more than a smidge of prosperity, and time to enjoy life.

Stay tuned for more blogging next year!

Shoot for the Moon!

As I contemplate my 2006 Goals, the following quotes come to mind:

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.”– Goethe
I have begun my dream. I am a writer. I have sent my babies out into the cold, cruel world and received back both praise and rejection. More will follow, but I have begun.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”– Eleanor Roosevelt

If we don’t dream, we’re stagnant. Believing in our dreams helps others see the dream as well. I read this quote and thought of how many times I’ve heard editors and agents say they want to see the author’s passion and enthusiasm for their manuscript. As writers, we have to fight through the exhaustive process of re-writing and editing until we’re sick of our own words and find the spark of the story that compelled us to put in on paper in the first place. Reminding ourselves of that helps restore some of that original passion for our characters and the story that was burning inside us.

Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”– Barbara A. Robinson

Wow. 2006 is going to be fun!

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.”– Les Brown

Ah! Good advice for the “Pie-In-The-Sky” Goals.

Have you set your goals yet?
