>Back in the Saddle

>I don’t actually have a horse, so take that title loosely – as in sticking my butt to the writing chair. I’ve been absent lately–from that chair and from the blog. I was dealing with a three week bout of bronchitis which kicked my butt. No energy. Sore muscles from the coughing. Little sleep. Needless to say, the brain was slow to work as well, hence the creative meter was hovering near empty.

I didn’t write. 😦

Then just as I was feeling better, I revised the first scene in Chapter 9 and wrote the second scene. Loved it! Computer malfunctioned and lost the entire file. (Did I mention my entire WIP is in one file? !!!) I had a backup, just not what I’d done that day, so I made notes, but reconstructing those scenes was slow going. I’m past that and finishing up the chapter. Will have to update my meter soon.

All that aside, I’m writing again. Thank God for GRW’s annual critique workshop. Getting my entry together and having to write a synopsis is what fired me up with renewed excitement for the story. I’ve got to finish it.

If there’s any interest, I’ll post a small excerpt this week. Anyone?

    >Arrgh! Blogger ate my post!!*This* time I’ll copy it before I try to post it.Sorry to hear you were sick. I was sick for 3 weeks, too, with the same thing.I’m having a hard time getting back into the writing. I take one step forward (post ch to my crit group) and one step back (find out they hated something in it.) This is annoying. Why didn’t God zap me with the “one clean draft writer” dust? Hunh? Hunh?At least I got my Blogger Profile photo ouploaded. Took me over an hr thru Picaso. I have no idea what I did. Good thing they walk you thru it! Did you use it?MelMelissa Beck

    >GRRRR on the bronchitis AND the lost file. I can relate to both. I don’t know about you, but whenever I have to recreate a scene from memory, it NEVER seems as good the second time around.

    >Well, Randy, I’ll let you be the judge of that. Of course, the first draft of that scene is gone, but the excerpt I just posted is the new version.
